Batavia
• Celebien C. Brantley, 23, of the 600 block of North Sawyer Avenue, Chicago, was charged with retail theft and possession of a controlled substance at 7:25 p.m. Friday at Kohl's. 251 N. Randall Road, according to a police report.
• Anthony J. Popela, 21, of the 3000 block of Derby Court, Aurora, was arrested at 5:45 p.m. Friday at his residence on a warrant on charges of criminal sexual abuse of a victim ages 13 to 17 and grooming, according to police.
• Two leaf blowers, valued at $960, were reported stolen Tuesday from the 1100 block of West Wilson Street.
• A business on the 0-99 block of Water Street reported a case of fraud at 4:15 p.m. Monday after learning two checks were cashed for a total of $901.
• Alexis N. Biancofiori, 18, of the 300 block of Lake Street, Batavia, was charged with misdemeanor battery at 8:50 p.m. Monday after an incident on the 700 block of North Prairie Street, according to police.
Kane County
• David E. Becker, 52, of the 300 block of West Marvin Avenue, Owensville, Missouri, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol concentration of .08 or more, no insurance, driving while license suspended, failure to reduce speed and transportation of open alcohol after he crashed into a utility pole at 1:18 p.m. Monday on Route 72 east of Brier Hill Road in Hampshire Township, according to a sheriff's report. Deputies found an open bottle of whiskey in the vehicle and a blood draw at a hospital showed his BAC to be .386, the report said.
