12 Christian, Muslim, Jewish faith communities join in Aurora Community Thanksgiving Celebration Nov. 24

Aurora InterFAITH's 12th annual community Thanksgiving celebration will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at Society 57, 100 S. River St. in Aurora.

The public is invited. Admission and parking are free. Donations will be accepted to benefit a local charity to be announced.

Twelve Christian, Muslim and Jewish faith communities from Aurora, North Aurora and Naperville will participate with speakers and musical groups.

Themed "One Aurora: Community. Diversity. Empathy.," the event will be hosted by InterFAITH Aurora, an ecumenical group, and The Orchard Community, a group of artists, innovators and thinkers.

Participating faith communities are Wesley United Methodist Church, St. John A.M.E. Church, Sikh Community, St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. John United Church of Christ, Temple B'nai Israel, The Orchard Community, Aurora Jewish Renewal Congregation, Our Savior Lutheran Church, New England Congregational Church, Baha'i Community and Al Aqsa Mosque.

An InterFAITH Aurora spokesperson said, "Based on our common belief that we are all children of God, we set for ourselves the mission of sharing and connecting. We believe that building understanding, acceptance and love within the community in which we make our homes will help transform and heal the world in which we live.''

A reception will conclude the celebration.
