Immanuel Lutheran to host veterans dinner Nov. 10

On Sunday, Nov. 10, a free Veterans Pasta Dinner will be offered from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 310 E. Main St. in East Dundee. To honor all those who have bravely served the nation, Immanuel invites all local veterans to attend with their family and friends.

The event is being put on by volunteers who wish to thank those who have served the nation. Local Boy Scout Troop 34 also is helping to serve the veterans.

Many men and women have given years of their lives to the service of our country. Whether service was rendered in peacetime or war, we have all benefited from their sacrifice. We hope to show a small portion of our appreciation by providing this dinner.

In addition to the dinner, many members at Immanuel will be sharing interesting military memorabilia from their own years of service, as well as from those of their family members. Some notable pieces include a World War I bugle, and journal entries made on the day the Armistice took effect in 1918. Those who attend the free pasta dinner will have the opportunity to peruse these memorabilia which also include uniforms, many personal letters, and pictures.

The food is catered by Aliano's Ristorante in East Dundee. This will be an open-house event, allowing those who attend to show up at Immanuel any time between 4:30 and 7 p.m. to enjoy good food, good conversation, and have the chance to peruse the military displays.

You can RSVP for the event by calling Alison Lyon (630) 709-6546, or visiting immanuelveteransdinner.eventbrite.com.

We'd like to give a big thank you to all veterans who have served our country. Please know your service has not gone unnoticed.
