Nobody injured in Palatine condo fire
A condominium caught fire in Palatine late Friday afternoon, authorities said Saturday.
Palatine and Arlington Heights firefighters responded to 524 E. Spruce Drive at 4:59 p.m. and found smoke coming from the roof, according to a news release from the Palatine Fire Department.
Crews discovered an attic fire in a third-floor unit and began removing walls and ceilings to expose the hidden fire, according to the release. Most of the damage was confined to the single unit aside from some water damage in the units below.
The fire was declared under control at 5:15 p.m., the release said. Nobody was injured.
The cause of the fire was electrical and accidental, investigators determined. Damage estimates were not available.
