Federation of Indian Associations, Chicago names FIA 2020 team

The annual board meeting of Federation of Indian Associations Chicago (FIA Chicago) was held on the auspicious festival of Diwali on Oct. 27 at Thumka Restaurant in Hoffman Estates.

This year, FIA Chicago unanimously nominated its new president, Gurmeet Singh Dhalwan, and the new board. The event was presided by founder president Sunil Shah, founder and past president Onkar Sangha, current president Ninad Daftari, and founding members Mukesh Shah and Neil Khot.

President Elect Gurmeet Singh Dhalwan will spearhead the team for the year 2020 with the help of executive vice presidents Hitesh Gandhi and Dr. Kamal Patel along with the entire board which include vice presidents Shital Daftari, Altaf Bukhari, Chetan Patel, Jatinder Bedi and Vinita Gulabani; secretary Abir Maru; treasurer Vaishal Talati; cultural secretary Hema Shastri; joint treasurer Ila Patel Chaudhari; joint secretary Ashwani Mahajan; directors Vibha Rajput; new directors Pratibha Jairath, Anu Malhotra, Richa Chand, Sonia Luther, Varsha Visal, Mukesh Shah, Hitesh Patel, Vikram Seth and Tanvi Dhillon; founder president Sunil Shah, Ninad Daftari, Onkar Sangha, Neil Khot, Hitesh Gandhi applauded the entire team for a very successful year.

Sunil Shah requested the participation of all the members for the next event of FIA: Feed My Starving Children that's undertaken for a very noble cause during Thanksgiving holidays on Nov. 24 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Renaissance Convention Center.

He also announced Celebration of India's 71st Republic Day on Jan. 25 with Health Fair and Scholarship Drive, Indian Heritage Night with Windy City Bulls on Feb. 23 at Sears Center, and Festival of Colors (Holi) in March.

The incoming President Gurmeet Singh Dhalwan assured that with his ability and hard work he plans to take the organization to new heights with events planned for 2020 with the support of the advisory board members Syed Hussaini (Wintrust Bank), Manish Gandhi (Power Plant Services), Brij Sharma (Power Volt), Asha Oroskar (Orochem), Smita Shah (Direct Floors), Pradeep Shukla (CPA), Neal Patel (MedStar), Jasbir Suga (Suga Builders & Construction ), and Keerthi Reevori.

Sunil Shah introduced and welcomed new advisory board member Keerthi Kumar Reevori. Founding members Sunny Kular, Rita Singh and Dhitu Bhagwakar could not attend the meeting.

FIA Chicago plans to take on projects like Job fair, entrepreneurship camps and youth leadership development skill camps.

Cultural Secretary Hema Shastri Birthday was celebrated with delicious cake and Diwali sweets.

FIA Chicago was founded to bring cultural awareness to the Chicago area and has now grown leaps and bounds. FIA, Chicago is serving the community by hosting several events throughout the year for the well-being and betterment of the community and thereby helping the community to grow and become one.
