Palatine lands corporate headquarters of OMI Industries

Downtown Palatine's Gateway Center on Smith Street has gained a major tenant.

OMI Industries' corporate headquarters has relocated to the center at 220 N. Smith St. from its previous home in an office park near Kemper Lakes Golf Club in Kildeer.

Privately held OMI specializes in manufacturing products and providing solutions to remove odors in industrial, commercial and home settings.

OMI project manager Pam Scalise said the Hamilton Partners building in downtown Palatine is well suited for the company because of its proximity to a Metra station and expressways. She said the new office space in the 4-story edifice has extra room for collaboration, plus booths for flexible workspaces and individual thought.

"We enjoyed working with the entire Hamilton Partners team and are excited to be in Palatine," Scalise said.

OMI was founded in 1990 and has its manufacturing, warehousing and research and development operations in Rising Sun, Indiana. Among OMI's products is Fresh Wave, a spray made with water and plant extracts, billed as a healthy way to get rid of household odors.

Mike Rolfs, a partner at Itasca-based Hamilton Partners, said the company is "very excited" to have OMI at the Gateway Center.
