We need to grow up in order to grow better
Between the bashing, slandering, ridiculing, spinning by the candidates, late-night television embarrassments and the media in general, and everyone else's opinion, it would be a great service for the Daily Herald to print each candidate's name who is running for office and insert a capital "I" after the name indicating incumbent.
If we are truly looking for change, we need to vote them out. Maybe they would get the message we are serious, that they are not God, and we are certain if they accomplished anything in their too-many years in office it is appreciated but it is time for them to leave.
Occupants in Congress were not destined to form careers, but had a burning desire to serve our country, take pride in their accomplishments and then leave for new leadership.
It only took 200-plus years to where we are today. Bashing, slandering, ridiculing, spinning, I believe in freedom of speech and that we can get a point across by using better choices of words. We need to grow up before we can grow back into the country our forefathers helped to form.
We have lost too many fathers, sons, daughters and other loved ones who have given their lives in too many wars in order to give us a future. Congressional terms need to be changed to eight years the most - that's all the president gets. I wouldn't worry about those leaving office - they have their futures written in stone. Do we?
