Highland Avenue Coffeehouse features folk duo Small Potatoes Nov. 8

From "Celtic to Cowboy" - that's how the Chicago-based folk duo of Jacquie Manning and Rich Prezioso describe the repertoire they will bring to the Highland Avenue Coffeehouse on Friday, Nov. 8.

Calling themselves "Small Potatoes" and doing original songs, an Irish tune or two, some country, some rock classics, plus stories and humor, this duo will charm and engage the coffeehouse audience.

Superb musicianship and showmanship, award-winning songwriting, and a strong sense of tradition has made them, as Dirty Linen Magazine once said, "one of the most polished, inventive, and entertaining shows on the circuit."

When they are not singing, Jacquie and Rich take people on tours to Ireland, in the daytime visiting fishing villages, ancient stone circles, church ruins, and many other sites of interest, while at night listening to incredible local music.

Among their recordings, Small Potatoes has a holiday album, "Christmas in the Cabin," and "Waltz of the Wallflowers."

The Highland Avenue Coffeehouse offers music, light refreshments, and friendly people.

It is open to the community. The coffeehouse is held at 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren, 783 W. Highland Ave. in Elgin.

There is no cover charge; donations are appreciated.
