Lake County may add low-emission vehicles to fleet
Lake County could soon be adding low-emission vehicles to its fleet, leading to an expected 72% reduction in tailpipe emissions, officials say.
The county board's Finance and Administrative, and Public Works, Planning and Transportation Committees recommended including funds in next year's budget to replace 14 traditional sedans used by the county with hybrids and fully electric vehicles.
The proposed fiscal year 2020 budget will be voted on at the next county board meeting, set for 9 a.m. Nov. 12, at the Lake County Government Center, 18 N. County St., Waukegan.
