Kitchen fire damages St. Charles home
St. Charles firefighters quickly extinguished a kitchen fire at a house on the 1900 block of Moore Avenue Monday evening that caused roughly $25,000 in damage.
Firefighters were dispatched at 8:34 p.m. and were on scene in five minutes. Firefighters located the fire and extinguished the blaze within 10 minutes of arrival, Fire Chief Scott Swanson reported.
No injuries were reported. The lone occupant of the home at the time evacuated before firefighters arrived.
Firefighters remained on scene until just before 10 p.m. to help with ventilation of the home and complete investigation into the cause of the blaze.
Swanson said the cause is still under investigation, but it does not appear suspicious.
