Kane County

• A resident of the 39W0-99 block of Shannon Square near Geneva reported a case of identity theft at 1:18 p.m. Saturday after learning $4,700 had been taken from a bank account.

• An estimated $4,000 worth of hemp was reported stolen at 7:07 p.m. Sunday from Hemp Haven, 3S257 Lorang Road near Elburn.

• A resident of the 43W100 block of Prairie Street near Sugar Grove reported a case of identity theft at 4:19 p.m. Monday after learning a PayPal account with a $5,630 balance had been opened in the resident's name without permission or authorization.

• A truck battery, curtains and a spare tire with an estimated total value of $1,400 were stolen from a semi-tractor truck parked on the 7N400 block of Route 25 near St. Charles between Sept. 15 and Oct. 16.

• A resident of the 0N400 block of Dooley Drive near Geneva reported a case of identity theft at 11:06 a.m. Friday after being denied a car loan and learning of eight credit cards that had been opened in the resident's name without permission or authorization, with a total balance of $45,000.

• John Alexander Hedwig, 35, of the 0-99 block of George Avenue, Cortland, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident, no insurance, failure to reduce speed, improper lane use and following too close, after a crash about 7:51 p.m. Friday near Route 38 and Meredith Road in Virgil Township, according to a sheriff's report. He was arrested in St. Charles Township shortly after the crash.
