Women's Club of Inverness helping Palatine Township Elementary District 15 students

The nonprofit Women's Club of Inverness continues to provide financial support to a private foundation assisting Palatine Township Elementary District 15.

The club most recently awarded $2,000 to the one-five Foundation to help grow the local branch of the national Blessings in a Backpack program for the current school year. Blessings in a Backpack helps students in need over weekends by providing nutritious food and other necessities to them.

"Without the continued philanthropic support with groups such as (Women's Club of Inverness), it would be difficult for the one-five Foundation to maintain or increase the level of support our students need today," said Mary Zarr, chairwoman of the one-five Foundation.

The foundation supports educational initiatives for schools and classrooms not covered by public money. Women's club members at their meeting this month also donated children's games, books and puzzles for the foundation to distribute to District 15 schools.
