Letter: Trump is a stain on our White House

The secrecy of the impeachment process is, as I see it, almost entirely on the side of President Donald Trump.

An impeachment proceeding is similar to a police investigation and as such the investigative/charging body has no obligation to provide data to the defendant until the charges are declared and has the obligation to pursue relevant information.

In our president's case, he has invoked "privileges" to suppress comments and testimony from anyone who works for him or any governmental agency he controls.

If history is a guide, that's a usual sign there is something to hide.

The president's problem is not that the Democrats are trying to find dirt on him. It is that he indicts himself and then blocks anyone from getting further details.

He, in a phone call and on public television, asked foreign powers to investigate a political rival, which is unconstitutional in itself.

As you may have guessed, I am not a fan of Trump or his acolytes.
