Palatine library hosting book discussion on 'The Ninth Hour'

The Palatine Public Library District will host a book discussion for adults focused on "The Ninth Hour" by Alice McDermott, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Nov. 1.

The book is a portrait of the Irish-American experience presented through the story of an Irish immigrant's suicide and how it reverberates through innumerable lives in early 20th century Catholic Brooklyn.

Copies are available at the library. To sign up for the free program, call (847) 358-5881, ext. 132, or visit palatinelibrary.org. The library is at 700 N. North Court.
