Mundelein approves grant for pot store

The Mundelein village board on Monday approved a $2,804 grant for owners of a local medical marijuana dispensary who want to replace a sign at the business.

The cash will come from the village's Business Incentive Grant program, which is designed to help business owners make improvements to their properties.

The grant will cover half the cost of the sign replacement at The Clinic Mundelein, 1325 Armour Blvd., which is being re-branded as Rise.

The owners also have acquired a state permit to sell cannabis products to recreational users starting Jan. 1, but village officials haven't yet approved zoning changes that would make that possible.
