Hoffman Estates holding Hispanic Heritage Day on Saturday

The Village of Hoffman Estates Cultural Awareness Commission will celebrate the community's diverse culture by hosting a Hispanic Heritage Day Fiesta from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at village hall, 1900 Hassell Road.

The event will highlight the sights, sounds and tastes of Hispanic culture, with the music of guitarist Jose Verduzco; dance groups representing Latin American countries; food; arts and crafts; and, the kids' favorite, a piƱata.

Featured speaker Hilda Frontany will discuss this year's theme, "A Story of Hispanic Growth from Chicago to Hoffman Estates." Frontany has worked as a community activist in Chicago and has led important change within the Latino community throughout her career.
