Hispanic Heritage Day Fiesta Oct. 19 in Hoffman Estates

The Hoffman Estates Cultural Awareness Commission is hosting a Hispanic Heritage Day Fiesta from 2 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the village hall, 1900 Hassell Road.

The event features the music of guitarist Jose Verduzco; dance groups representing Latin American countries; food; arts and crafts; and, of course, the kids' favorite, the breaking of the piñata.

Featured speaker Hilda Frontany will discuss this year's theme, "A Story of Hispanic Growth from Chicago to Hoffman Estates." Frontany has worked as a community activist in Chicago and has led change within the Latino community throughout her career.
