We're not in control
In Earth's long and turbulent history, there have been many occasions when the poles have shifted. It's the reason researchers have found that under the Sahara Desert and Antarctica, the lands were once lush forests. It might also be the reason that dinosaurs died with undigested food in their mouths and stomachs.
Today there is evidence that both the South and North poles are melting. The only possible explanation is that as the North Pole drifts south, the glaciers encounter warmer water; likewise, this shift causes the South Pole to move northward, again into warmer water.
What are the precursors to a pole shift? More frequent earthquakes and volcanic activity, changes in weather patterns, extreme weather events, wildfires, flooding, droughts, along with a warming of the entire planet. We have to learn that we can never control nature. Nature always has and always will control us.
