Boys soccer: Crystal Lake South, Dundee-Crown all tied up
Two overtimes weren't enough to settle things between Crystal Lake South and Dundee-Crown Thursday, who ended their battle for the Fox Valley Conference lead in a 4-4 tie.
Alex Canfield scored 3 goals to lead the Gators (10-3-3, 4-0-1) and Garett Schneider knocked in the other goal. Carson Hill tended goal for CL South and finished with 5 saves.
For the Chargers (10-4-1, 4-1-1), Julian Saldana had 2 goals and Roland Dearborn had a goal and 3 assists. Venancio Mejia tallied 4 saves in goal for Dundee-Crown and Nathan Becker had 3 saves.
CL Central 2, Huntley 1: Josh Guyer scored the lone goal for the Red Raiders (6-8-1, 1-4) assisted by Sam Bellantuono. Ethan Kornas saves 6 shots in goal for Huntley in a complete game effort.
Cary-Grove 1, McHenry 1: After a scoreless first half, both teams found the back of the net in the second half, and two overtimes later, 1-1 would be the final score. Spencer Bethers scored for the Trojans (5-5-1, 2-2-1) off a pass from Dario Gamboa to give Cary-Grove its only goal of the match.
