Six Flags Fright Fest:

South Elgin Parks & Recreation Discounts Days is here! Valid dates are Oct. 11-14. Tickets are only $44 for a single day visit. Purchases are only available at village hall, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are nonrefundable and do not include Hurricane Harbor. For more information, call (847) 622-0003. Halloween Treats Cooking Class:

October-spooky treats such as mummy pizza, crunchy spiders and spooky trail mix will be created during this hands-on cooking experience. Please note any allergies at the time of registration. Parents join during the last 15 minutes for sampling. This class will be held Wednesday, Oct. 23, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the municipal annex. The cost is $20 for residents and $23 for nonresidents.

All Star Sports:

Register now for Fall All Star Sports Classes. They offer a variety of classes for kids, ages 2-12. Classes begin the week of Oct. 27.

In the Parent Tot Super Sport, have fun together while learning a variety of sports. Develop hand-eye coordination and simple motor skills such as catching, throwing, batting, shooting, passing. Play soccer, hockey, basketball, T-ball and more. Equipment provided. Parent participation required. It will be offered Mondays, Oct. 28 to Dec. 16, from 10 to 10:45 a.m.; and Tuesdays, Oct. 29 to Dec. 17, from 9:15 to 10 a.m. at the Sportsplex. On Saturdays, Nov. 2 to Dec. 21, from 9:15 to 10 a.m. at the PCC. No classes on Nov. 25-30. The cost is $76 for residents and $86 for nonresidents.

In Flag Football Camp, kids, age 5 to 10, enjoy a week of action-packed football in a fun and safe environment. Beginners and little pros will learn the game including positioning, catching, throwing, patterns, footwork and offensive and defensive strategies, without pads and helmets. No tackling allowed. It will be offered Monday to Wednesday, Nov. 25-27, from noon to 2:30 p.m. for age 5 to 7 and 2:30 to 5 p.m. for age 8 to 10, at the Sportsplex. The cost is $83 for residents and $93 for nonresidents.

In Track Star Skills, the program is centered on helping increase your child's speed and endurance while also bettering running form. It will cover sprinting, distance running, high jump, long jump and more. During class your child will learn form, train, and have fun while playing games to increase their speed and endurance. Wear running shoes. It will be offered Thursdays, Nov. 7 to Dec. 19, from 5 to 5:45 p.m. for age 6 to 8 and 4:15 to 5 p.m. for age 9 to 12, at the Stephen Persinger Recreation Center in Geneva. No class on Nov. 28. The cost is $76 for residents and $86 for nonresidents.

In Speed & Agility Skills, this is a class to help your child's speed and agility in his/her sport of preference. While participating in the program your child will work to obtain that extra element to their game that will help them stand out as a player in the field or on the court. The focus will be on skills such as form, start and stop speeds, directional change, acceleration change and fun games to help improve overall skills. Wear running shoes. It will be offered Thursdays, Nov. 7 to Dec. 19, from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. for age 8 to 12 at the Stephen Persinger Recreation Center in Geneva. No class on Nov. 28. The cost is $76 for residents and $86 for nonresidents.

Rules of the Road Refresher:

The Rules of the Road review course is designed to give drivers, including senior citizens and persons with disabilities, the knowledge and confidence to pass the driver's license renewal exams. There is no charge for this class. A new Rules of the Road book and student workbook will be provided during class. This class will be held Thursday, Oct. 10 from 10 a.m.-noon in the municipal annex. There is no charge for this class.

Fitting in the Finances:

Between working, relaxing, family, friends, and relationships, where do financial balances fit in? Perhaps not where, but how does it fit in? Lean how to add balance to your overall financial wellness to achieve higher level of personal growth and peace of mind. Mike Fulkerson, personal financial adviser, will offer this free program for ages 18 or older from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, in the municipal annex.
