Sound check: Sum 41 tour features new 'Order,' anniversary of 'Chuck'
Sum 41's 'Order In Decline' tour
In its 23-year history, Sum 41's riotous mix of punk, metal and elements of alternative rock has kept it a fan favorite. And fans have something to celebrate this weekend when the “Order In Decline World Tour” brings the Canadian band to Chicago to showcase its July release “Order In Decline.” Sum 41 is also celebrating the 15-year anniversary of its storied third studio album “Chuck,” released shortly after the band found itself trapped by civil war fighting while filming a documentary in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The band is recognizing that by teaming with PLUS1 so $1 from every ticket sold on the tour will benefit War Child, an organization that supports children and families in war-torn communities. The show, a massive set comprising hits from both of those albums, along with favorites from the full library of punk-rock anthems, will also feature performances by The Amity Affliction and The Plot In You.

Girls Rock benefit
BaseCamp Pub, Get-Fit-Together and Adena Presents team up to raise awareness of breast cancer, support those fighting the disease and benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation with the Girls Rock event. Rock along with COVERGIRLS' Asia and the boys as they take the stage with tributes to TLC, Spice Girls, Madonna, Lady Gaga and more, followed by DJ Romance spinning hits. You can also get the chance to knock out cancer in the boxing ring in honor of someone you love.

FitzGerald's folky fundraiser for Music & Potlucks
Music & Potlucks presents its third annual Folktober Fest on Sunday, Oct. 6, in Berwyn to benefit Beyond Hunger, Housing Forward and the Oak Park River Forest Community Foundation. Sunday's event, at FitzGerald's, includes a Songwriters Three in the Round performance with Michael Peter Smith, Heather Styka and Mark Dvorak at 6:15 p.m. Light dinner and appetizers will precede the show at 5 p.m., along with a free singing and harmony workshop starting at 4 p.m.

Evolution showcase
Evolution Music in Downers Grove hosts a celebration of some of the Chicago area's hottest up-and-coming artists. California's Overgrow teams up with local indie-popsters Better Love, pop-punk rockers Late Nights, alt-rock band Commonweather and the rockers of Weighted.

Invisible Cartoons
