Boys soccer: CL South rolls behind Canfield's 5 goals

CL South 7, Burlington Central 0: The Gators (10-3-2, 4-0) could not be stopped, powering through to a big win in the Fox Valley Conference. Alex Canfield was a force to be reckoned with, scoring all five of the first half goals. Sabien Raymond and Tyler Getzinger added to the scoring in the second half. Carson Hill saved one shot in goal for CL South. For the Rockets (3-7, 0-5), Tristan Samuelian had 19 saves in 65 minutes of play and Max Davis finished the game with a save.

CL Central 2, Cary-Grove 1: Jesus "Chooch" Padilla scored the lone goal for the Trojans (5-5, 2-2) off an assist from Dario Gamboa. Cary-Grove was unable to bounce back from a 2-0 deficit at the half, dropping their second match in the Fox Valley Conference.

Jacobs 1, Huntley 0: The lone goal of the game was scored by Jacobs in the second half, as the Red Raiders (6-7-1, 1-3) were blanked in Fox Valley Conference action. Ethan Kornas finished with 10 saves for Huntley.

Dundee-Crown 2, McHenry 0: The Chargers (10-4, 4-1) received a goal in under 10 minutes, a shot from Kevin Martinez off a pass from Juan Pacheo to get the scoring started early. A second half goal by Roland Dearborn sealed the win, as the defense shut out the McHenry. Venancio Mejia and Nathan Becker combined for 2 saves in goal for Dundee-Crown.

St. Edward 5, Chicago Christian 0: The Green Wave (8-4, 2-1) hopped out a 2-0 lead at the half and never looked back. Josh Johansen led the charge with 2 goals and an assist, Chase Brieger kicked in a goal and an assist, and Tyler Brieger finished with a goal. Evan Sajtar started the game in goal, finishing with 4 saves in 60 minutes. Morgan Sajtar finished the game, tallying 2 saves.

St. Charles East 5, Batavia 0: Renato Avendano scored 2 goals and Luca Avendano assisted both of those goals to lead the Saints (11-1-2) to victory. Jack Settle went the distance, earning his ninth shutout of the season, and saving 3 shots on goal.

Elgin 6, Schaumburg Christian 1: Eduardo Berrum led the Maroons (5-4-3) with 2 goals, while Jean Padilla-Gomez added a goal and an assist in a nonconference win on Tuesday night. Jefferson Paulina tended goal for Elgin and tallied one save.
