A few more suggestions to save the planet

The Herald gave us a week of doom and gloom featuring youngsters lecturing adults. This was capped with an editorial advising how we can all make a difference in saving the Earth.

Allow me to add a few more.

1) Get rid of the SUV and buy a regular car, preferably the ones GM can't seem to sell.

2) Buy your kid a bike instead. They can use this eco-friendly transport to go to school, friends' homes and the mall.

3) Forget the mall. Hand-me-downs and buying gently-used clothing from the Salvation Army centers constitutes recycling.

4) Buy the kids a push mower for the lawn and a rake for the leaves. No carbon footprint and quieter for you on the weekend. Toss in a snow shovel, too.

5) Yes, by all means unplug the TV and computer after one hour. Books are Earth friendly.

6) Encourage your kids to protest the use of A/C in schools and demand an eco-happy 68-degree in winter.

If all of this sounds drastic and extreme, just remind them that is how most of us parents grew up saving the world before it was the "woke" thing to do.
