Police: 11 Naperville homes hit with burglaries
Naperville police are warning residents - especially those on the north side of town - to lock their patio and garage doors to avoid break-ins after several reported burglaries.
Police Cmdr. Mike Son said personal items of value have been stolen during 11 burglaries in north Naperville since June 20. One attempted burglary in the same area also fits the pattern, he said.
Police have suspect information and are investigating leads about the burglaries, seven of which occurred in the area north of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks and east of Washington Street. But Son said no one has been charged or cited.
In a Naper Notify alert sent to residents, police shared crime prevention tips and encouraged residents to keep doors and windows locked, to close garage doors, especially overnight, and to maintain sufficient lighting outside and inside the home.
"It is extremely important for residents to be vigilant in their neighborhoods and report any suspicious activity to police by calling 911," the alert said.
