Geneva railroad crossing to close for repairs
The Western Avenue railroad crossing in Geneva will be closed Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 28-29, as Union Pacific makes repairs to the train tracks.
Construction crews will be pulling the railroad pads and replacing the rail throughout the crossing. The crossing will be closed to both cars and pedestrians during the morning Sept. 28 and is anticipated to reopen in the evening on Sept. 29.
Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and use either the Third Street crossing or the Randall Road overpass as alternate routes.
Any project updates will be posted to the city's website at www.geneva.il.us.
