Man attempts to break into Batavia home

The Batavia Police Department advises residents to lock their doors and windows after a man tried to enter a home through multiple windows Sunday evening.

Officers responded to the 1000 block of Lorlyn Circle at 6:28 p.m. Sunday after reports of an unknown man trying to enter a home through a child's bedroom, according to a news release Monday from the Batavia Police Department.

The resident told police the man, who was spotted walking back and forth by the child's bedroom window, tried to remove the screen. He also tried to take the screen off the window to another bedroom.

The resident scared the man off.

Police described the man as short and Hispanic, with medium build and black hair. He was wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and dirty work boots. He was last seen getting into a red four-door Toyota.
