Learn about history of Lords Park Zoo at Izaak Walton League meeting Oct. 1

On Tuesday, Oct. 1, the Elgin Chapter of the Izaak Walton League will host a program on the history of Lords Park Zoo.

Using vintage photographs and newspaper articles, Margaret Rowe, a local historian, volunteer and member of the Friends of the Lords Park Zoo, will recount the 124-year history and tell anecdotal stories about Elgin's iconic zoo.

The program will be at 7 p.m. at the Hanover Township Izaak Walton Center, 899 Jay St. in Elgin. The community is welcome to attend.
