MSU-Northern plans to build on-campus football field

HAVRE, Mont. (AP) - Montana State University-Northern in Havre has announced plans to build a football field on campus.

The MSU-Northern Alumni Foundation on Friday announced two major donations toward the project. The Tilleman Family, which owns Tilleman Motor Co., is donating $400,000 while Independence Bank contributed $150,000.

The bank also has agreed to finance campaign pledges at 0% interest, allowing Northern to begin construction immediately after reaching the fundraising goal while giving donors the option of making their payments over time.

Shantel Cronk, executive director of the Alumni Foundation, said they hope to break ground next spring and have the field ready for the 2020 football season. She said further information, including the cost, will be announced at Northern's homecoming football game on Sept. 28.

Northern currently plays its home games at Havre High's Blue Pony Stadium.
