Women's Club of Inverness partners with Community Crisis Center

Women's Club of Inverness held its first meeting of the new year on Sept. 12. Welcoming seven new guests and potential members, Women's Club of Inverness has been connected with the Community Crisis Center for more than 30 years.

Lisa Winchel, Community Crisis Center's resource development/facility coordinator, was invited to speak at the meeting about the organization's mission and programs covering a 44-year history.

"The Crisis Center relies on partnerships with service organizations like the Women's Club of Inverness, and they are essential to our existence and success," said Winchel.

Primarily supporting victims of domestic/sexual violence and child witnesses with an emergency shelter and 24-hour hotline, Community Crisis Center is one of the few organizations also offering an abuse intervention program serving individuals with abusive or controlling behaviors.

Women's Club of Inverness has awarded numerous grants to help with replacing appliances, new beds, educational materials, transportation tokens and basic grocery needs.

Women's Club of Inverness is a 501(c) 3 organization supporting local nonprofits and providing scholarships for deserving students from Districts 211 and 220.
