Boys soccer: Haywood's hat trick lifts Round Lake

Maqiis Haywood had a hat trick and an assist, and Round Lake's boys soccer team shut out host Grant 6-0 in Northern Lake County Conference action Tuesday night.

Chuy Ramos also scored and assisted on Gio Garcia's tally. Uriel Sanchez had a goal as well for the Panthers, and Jerry Perez made 3 saves in earning the shutout.

Lake Zurich 2, Lake Forest 1: Miles Larson and Aiman Naqvi scored for the visiting Bears in the North Suburban Conference game.

Andrew Juarez and Nate Wenzel had assists for the Bears.

Mundelein 4, Waukegan 0: Camden Kowalski had 2 goals, and the Mustangs did all of their scoring in the second half of the North Suburban Conference match.

Darren Gray added a goal and 2 assists, and Jesus Abrego also scored. Abrego also had an assist, as did Cole Pauly.

Zion-Benton 3, Stevenson 1: The North Suburban Conference opener was scoreless at halftime.

Stevenson (2-5-1) got its only goal from Siggi Odongo, assisted by Nick Brickman.

Lakes 3, Grayslake Central 1: Evan Larsen scored twice, Camden Steinert made 8 saves in net, and the host Eagles won in Northern Lake County Conference action.

Brady Lucas had a goal and an assist for Lakes (3-3, 2-0). Tim Pollak and Luke Chamernik also had assists.

"A well-played game by both teams," Eagles coach Kevin Kullby said. "I was happy with my team's overall play on both sides of the ball and that we were able to score two goals on set pieces."

Thomas Ramsey scored off an assist from Nicholas Hoffman for Grayslake Central (3-7, 1-1).

Grayslake North 3, Wauconda 0: Omar Cordova, Patrick Santiago and Aidan Stotz scored for the host Knights in the Northern Lake County Conference match, which was scoreless at halftime.

Grayslake North (2-5-1) got assists from Logan Holevas, Sam Inmon and Angel Mejia. Bryan Burger earned the shutout with 4 saves.
