Artists to display wares at Arboretum of South Barrington Festival

Free admission for all ages and free parking

The Arboretum of South Barrington Art Festival, produced by Highland Park-based company Amdur Productions, will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21 and Sunday, Sept. 22, at the Arboretum of South Barrington shopping mall, 100 W. Higgins Road, South Barrington, and will run rain or shine. The event is free and open to the public, and mall parking is free as well. The festival is also accessible by the Union Pacific Northwest Metra line.

More than 50 juried artists will showcase and sell a variety of jewelry, sculpture, photography, glass, mixed media, wearable art, oils, acrylics, watercolors, and more. Regional artists include:

• Suzie Newman is an art therapist and oil painter, whose paintings are contemporary pointillism, referencing a digital process as well as a painterly tradition.

• Shelly Lawler's photographs hang throughout the world, her window art adorns hospitals and health care facilities, and she's added women's fashion scarves to her repertoire, featuring nature and garden themes.

• Bob Forestall repurposes found furniture, beverage boxes, and vintage and current shipping containers into unique tables, serving trays, candle holders and other objets d'art.

The Arboretum of South Barrington Art Festival also offers artist demonstrations and booth chats to learn more about the artists and their work. There will be a Youth Art Tent and Ruth's Chris will offer food options.

"We're thrilled to return to beautiful South Barrington," says Amy Amdur, president of Amdur Productions. "The Arboretum, with its mix of shops, restaurants and entertainment venues, is the ideal location for an art fest, and our artists are eager to share their wares in this welcoming community!"
