DuPage County: Tuesday Morning Quarterback

Name: Andrew Johnson

School: Glenbard West

Year: Senior

Best thing about being an offensive lineman: The best thing about being an offensive lineman would be pancaking guys and burying them into the ground. I love that. I think just putting someone on their back against their will, it all starts up front and we take pride in that on the offensive line because we know games are won and lost up front and if we can get that push our running backs can get 3, 4 yards.

Worst thing about being an offensive lineman: We don't get as much credit as the running backs and wide receivers and quarterbacks, but we take pride in those guys. If they score a touchdown we know we did our job and executed our blocks. We take pride in other people's successes on our team. I wouldn't say there's one worse thing, but everybody would like a little slice off fame.

Don't tell my coach that: I secretly ask for the ball from the other assistant coaches during the game. I'm always like, "Hey, (running backs) coach (Mike) Hofland, give me the ball. Run this play."

If I could change one thing about football: It would definitely be the amount of restrictions or violations against hitting guys and targeting and those type of rules because I feel like they're making the game more soft. I wish we could go back to more old-school football because our team takes pride in that. The refs, they're protecting the players, which is a good thing, but I think it takes away from the physicality of the game.

Team not on our schedule I wish we could play: I wish we could play Lincoln-Way East again because we played them in the playoffs last year in the second round, we lost 45-0. I wish we could play them again this year because we have a new, energized offense and a hard-hitting defense again and a lot of returning starters. If we could play them again I think we'd definitely give them a run for the money.

How I'll celebrate if I score a TD: I'm not really a selfish player, I wouldn't spike the ball or anything. Just celebrate with my teammates, high-fives and head butts, I guess.

Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat: Twitter is what I like the best. When I created my Twitter account it was for the purpose of recruiting for colleges, and my feed was all football.

What I like best about my school: I would honestly say the coaches, the staff, the faculty, all the teachers at West, that sets them apart for other schools. They truly care about us not only as players but as young men growing into good members of society. They put in the work and it shows especially in summer time when we have summer camp for football, when they put in four, five hours away from their families. As one of our coaches says, we're looking to make a lifelong friendship.

Something about me that would surprise you: I really enjoy hunting and fishing. A lot of kids don't like outdoor stuff but I'm a big outdoors guy. I enjoy being outdoors, I enjoy the sunshine. I go pheasant hunting in South Dakota and duck hunting in Wisconsin.

Other sports I play: I play football, wrestling and I did track, and I'll probably be doing rugby this year as well.

Favorite actor: Leonardo DiCaprio is definitely one of my favorite actors. A lot of good movies, a lot of funny movies.

Favorite actress: Probably Margot Robbie. I just like the movies that she's in as well and she's in a couple with Leonardo DiCaprio, so that's definitely some good stuff.

Favorite athlete: I would say (Indianapolis Colts offensive guard) Quenton Nelson. I'm definitely a fan of him. He was a (2018) rookie, a Pro Bowler. I'm definitely looking out for my linemen, I like watching linemen pancake guys.

Favorite musician: Luke Ryan. I'm a fan of country music. Actually, I've been to Country Thunder, a big country concert, and me and some of my friends are going next year as well.
