Batavia Community Band to host Concert in the Park Sept. 15

The Batavia Community Band will host its third annual "Concert in the Park" from 3 to 4:15 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at the Peg Bond Center on the Batavia Riverwalk. In case of bad weather, the concert will be held in the Council Chambers at Batavia City Hall next to the Riverwalk.

This concert will feature music from many different genres, including marches, classics, movie medleys, and patriotic songs.

This concert will be enjoyable for young and old alike. Bring a lawn chair, blanket or just sit on the grass for a quiet afternoon of music down by the river.

The Batavia Community Band, under the umbrella of the City of Batavia, was organized in the Fall of 2013 to play for Batavia city events and celebrations. The band has brought together many former musicians who live in Batavia and the surrounding towns that wanted to pick up their instruments once again. New members are always welcome. Membership in this band is voluntary; there is no ticket cost for our concerts, nor is there a membership fee to play with the group. Donations are gladly accepted to help offset the cost of new music at any time during the year. The director of the Batavia Community Band is John Heath, retired director of the Batavia High School band.
