The Cubs' Kyle Hendricks (9-9) vs. Cal Quantrill (6-6) Monday at 9:10 p.m.; Jose Quintana (13-8) vs. Ronaldo Bolanos (0-1) Tuesday at 9:10 p.m.; Cole Hamels (7-6) vs. Chris Paddack (8-7) Wednesday at 9:10 p.m.; Yu Darvish (5-6) vs. TBD Thursday at 2:40 p.m.

At a glance:

The Cubs took two of three from the Padres at Wrigley Field in mid-July. The Padres are firmly in fourth place in the National League West. Big free-agent acquisition Manny Machado entered Sunday with a line of .262/.332/.472 with 29 homers and 78 RBI. Hunter Renfro had 31 homers to lead the Padres, who are a bottom-half team offensively. Their team ERA of 4.53 was 10th in the NL; the Cubs were third, at 4.03. Hendricks is 5-2 with a 2.98 lifetime in 9 career starts against the Padres. He was moved from Sunday against the Brewers to the series opener at San Diego.
