Uber to add 2,000 jobs, base Uber Freight in Chicago
Uber expects to hire 2,000 employees over the next three years as it moves into new offices at Chicago's Old Main Post Office.
Uber Freight will be headquartered here and the Chicago office will house the division's first engineering hub outside of San Francisco, the company announced Monday.
The company best known for its ride-hailing app has signed a 10-year lease. Uber said it expects to invest more than $200 million a year in Chicago through staff, real estate and other expenses.
In August, Uber announced it had signed a lease for 463,000 square feet, making it the largest tenant in the revived landmark at 433 W. Van Buren St. Uber will join Walgreens, Ferrara Candy, HomeChef and AbelsonTaylor in the building.
