Parking app goes live in Arlington Heights

Starting Monday, drivers who pay to park in some 900 daily fee spaces in downtown village of Arlington Heights garages and surface lots will be able to pay via mobile app.

As soon as signage appears in a lot or garage for the Passport Parking app, the program will be ready for patrons to use, officials say. Signs should be posted within a week, depending on the weather.

Users can download the app, create an account, choose the parking zone denoted on the signage and enter the parking space number. If drivers choose, they can still pay using cash at pay boxes.

The system is used in Chicago, Buffalo Grove, Des Plaines, Palatine and Wheeling, among other towns.
