District 214 parents, students can explore careers at free events

High School District 214 students and their parents are invited to an information-packed lineup of free events this fall focused on career exploration.

The first trio of events, Career Nights, will provide a glimpse into a variety of careers, allowing students and parents to meet with industry professionals and hear about the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in each field.

Career Nights are a great opportunity for District 214 students and their parents to get their questions about careers answered and make connections with professionals, while simultaneously learning how the district's Career Pathways program can help them reach their goals and gain skills to succeed.

Each night will focus on different career areas:

• "Careers in Arts & Communication/Human Services" will be Tuesday, Sept. 17, at Prospect High School.

• "Careers in Health & Natural Resources" will be at Wheeling High School Thursday, Sept. 26.

• "Careers in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Business and Computers" will be at Rolling Meadows High School Tuesday, Oct. 15.

On-site registration begins at 6 p.m. Each evening will conclude at 8:30 p.m.

The district's College and Career Ready! Night Wednesday, Oct. 23, will provide a deeper look into the district's Career Pathways program.

At the event, District 214 educators will lead sessions about career pathways, early college credit opportunities and workplace learning experiences. University and college partners will also be on hand to answer questions.

The event runs from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Forest View Educational Center. Each session runs for 45 minutes and will be repeated after 6:30 p.m.
