Let's try returning to biblical values

It has been said that America is a Christian nation. While, this may not necessarily be true, our Founding Fathers had no problem including biblical values and principles in drafting the governing documents of this great nation. They valued biblical counsel.

"In God We Trust" has been our nation's motto for the last 63 years. It appears on U.S. currency and our national anthem. Now it will be displayed in the schools of South Dakota along with other schools in America.

Pundits are constantly fighting anything associated with the Christian faith. Christianity has been around for the last 2,000 years and not yet been eradicated. King Herod tried when he heard that Jesus was born and when they crucified Him, they thought it was a done deal. Both attempts were unsuccessful.

The values Jesus taught us are prevalent in everyday life. Think about the fact that most of our laws are based on several of the Ten Commandments. Murder, lying, stealing are all are punishable offenses in our society.

I can't even begin to imagine America without God. Many of us have no interest in religion, but many of us do. Maybe it's time to start tolerating the Christian faith, allow biblical values back into the forefront of America's thinking and stop using the First Amendment as a reason to rid our society of those values.

America will be a much better nation if we returned to the values that our Founding Fathers felt valuable in establishing America. No one is forced to accept Christianity or any other religion, so let's put our differences aside and return to those valued principles. Why not try for the next 63 years and see if America becomes a better nation?
