First Presbyterian Church Of Lake Forest Observes 69th Year Of Rummage

Lake Forest, IL - August 21, 2019 - Celebrating its 69th year of Rummage, the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest announced its upcoming fall sale will be held at the church on Saturday, September 28, 2019. Doors open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 3:00 p.m.

"This fall sale, while somewhat smaller than our annual May sale, still offers more than 20 departments of gently used and recycled goods," co-chairman Cynthia Hessemer noted. "Rummage is part of the DNA of First Pres. Way ahead of its time, our sales exemplify the motto of 'Reduce, Repurpose, Recycle'. This year's spring sale raised more than $100,000, all of which has gone to local, national and global non-profits we partner with," she continued.

Interim Senior Pastor Bill Ingersoll observed that "This rummage sale has a unique ability to offer a win-win-win proposition. Donors benefit by having a local source to give cherished merchandise to; shoppers have the opportunity for finding great treasures at a low, low prices; and the community-at-large wins by the abundance of fellowship generated during their volunteer time. We welcome any and many hands in volunteering. The beauty of Rummage is that workers represent all religious beliefs, cultural backgrounds and ages. The comradery of working for a greater purpose than self builds amazing bridges of friendship and respect," he concluded.

Available to everyone, by giving a four hour commitment to set up departments, work a shift on sale day or help with clean-up, workers earn early shopping privileges and gain access to sale merchandise before the doors open on Saturday. If you are interested in volunteering for the sale, you can go to firstchurchlf.org/rummagevolunteer.
