The Cubs swept two from the Mariners in Seattle April 30 and May 1. The Mariners, managed by former Cubs catcher Scott Servais, are dead last in the American League West. Daniel Vogelbach, traded by the Cubs to the Mariners in July 2016 for pitcher Mike Montgomery, entered Sunday with a line of .214/.344/.461 with 28 home runs and 70 RBI, both leading the team. Seattle pitching ranked 12th in the AL in ERA (5.05) entering Sunday. The Cubs were third in the NL, at 4.07. Hendricks will be making his first career start against the Mariners.
