Attend reception for The Watercooler Sisters exhibit

Summer is drawing to a close and the bright colors of autumn are on the horizon. At this time, the Northwest Cultural Council is pleased to announce a reception for its current exhibitors, The Watercooler Sisters.

The reception will be held in the atrium of the Arlington Green Executive Center. The law firm of RF Wittmeyer, Ltd., is sponsoring the event from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14. The free reception is open to the public.

Kathy Umlauf, executive director of the Northwest Cultural Council, and her jury welcomed The Watercooler Sisters and their exhibit titled "Divergent Paths" June 30. Sandra Buhl, Charlotte Lattof, Mary Jo Martin, Lynn Miller, Rita Molepske, Betty Morley, Carol Fink-Sackschewsky, Lauri Schreiber, Judy Sinn and Gloria J. Zucaro comprise this group of artists who describe themselves in this way:

"Yes, you read that correctly, waterCOOLER, the result of a happy accident made on a restaurant reservation. We are a group of women who met in painting classes over 10 years ago. What we have in common is the desire to grow and express ourselves in painting and drawing, to explore new media, to appreciate and support each other's efforts, and have lots of laughs together while enjoying good food and drink.

"We come from different backgrounds, having worked in education, administration and social services. Through the years, strong friendships have developed. We have traveled together to take art workshops throughout the country and even abroad. At various times, some of us have studied with Don Andrews, Bridget Austin, Ratindra Das, David Becker, Nita Engel, Richard Hellend, Frankie Johnson, Maxine Masterfield and Stephen Quiller.

"We paint in various media, including acrylic, casein, collage, oil, pen and ink, pastel, watercolor and combinations of each. Our work has been juried into various shows and galleries. We're appreciative of the opportunity to exhibit together, and we hope viewers will enjoy our show as much as we enjoy putting it together."

The "Divergent Paths" exhibit is on display through Friday, Sept. 27.

Arlington Green Executive Center is at 2101 S. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights. There is plenty of free parking around the building.
