True spirit of adoption

In an Aug. 24 article regarding pregnancy counseling services at Aunt Martha's clinic, one option provided to pregnant women is described as to "give the baby up for adoption." Birth mothers who make the choice of adoption are not "giving up" on anything or anyone. They are placing their child for adoption so the child has the appropriate home and safety that they may not be able to provide. Let's all change our phrasing to capture the spirit of adoption best by using the term "placing" not "giving up."
