Boys soccer: Burlington Central blanks Freeport

Burlington Central 1, Freeport 0: The Rockets (1-1) only got one goal across, and it would be all they needed for the win.

Samy Award scored an unassisted first half goal for Burlington Central and the defense took care of the rest. Tristan Samuelian defended the goal for the Rockets and tallied 7 saves in the shut out.

South Elgin 2, Lake Park 1: The Storm (1-1) took out the host Lancers scoring a goal in each half at the Lake Park Invitational and holding Lake Park scoreless in the second half.

Angel Garcia-Resendiz scored first for South Elgin, and Nick Flores knocked in the winning goal on a penalty kick. Zachary Juszko and Christian Andrew split the goaltending duties, racking up a combined 5 saves.

Indian Creek 3, Westminster Christian 1: Despite 15 saves in goal for Jack Layne, Indian Creek's offense could not be contained. The lone goal for the Warriors (0-1) was scored by Nathan Siers.

Dundee-Crown 2, Deerfield 1: In a thrilling match at the Lake Forest Shootout that came down to penalty kicks, it was the Chargers (1-1) coming out victorious.

Roland Dearborn scored the first half goal for Dundee-Crown off an assist from Julian Saldana. The Chargers also allowed a goal in the first half and the two teams remained deadlocked through the second half.

After a 5-4 edge in PKs, it was Dundee-Crown with the win. Venancio Mejia saved 2 shots in goal for the Chargers, including what would have been the tying penalty kick.
