Unity Northwest Church to host World Day of Prayer Service
Unity's 26th annual World Day of Prayer Service at Unity Northwest Church, 259 E. Central Road, Des Plaines, will be from 6:50 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11.
The public is invited to join in prayer as thousands of people join Silent Unity - an international, transdenominational, 24/7 prayer ministry - and Unity churches around the world for this event. Silent Unity is the prayer ministry associated with Daily Word magazine.
"World Day of Prayer gives the Northwest suburban community an opportunity to come together in celebration of our oneness with God, each other, and our world," said Senior Minister Elizabeth Mora.
"We will begin by taking part in a special service live streamed from Silent Unity in Missouri, which will include prayer and music. Praying in our sanctuary will foster peace and wholeness in our community and in our individual lives. Everyone is welcome to attend."
A freewill offering will be taken at the service.
Following the service, the Prayer Vigil will begin. Various congregants, Prayer Team members, and chaplains will pray throughout the night up until 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12.
Everyone will be invited to stay after the service to pray for those names placed in our Prayer Chalice throughout the weeks leading up to World Day of Prayer 2019. Those unable to attend are invited to join the church to pray at any time during these 24 hours, wherever they may be.
Unity Northwest Church will also be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, for those who wish to pray in the sanctuary.
The theme of this year's event is "Infinite Presence, Unlimited Potential." The affirmation is "I celebrate the vast possibilities for my life." Unity invites people of all faiths to join in this sacred prayer activity. Names can be submitted for prayer by emailing admin@unitynorthwest.org or at worlddayofprayer.org.
