Elgin's First Congregational Church to explore 'Meaning For Life' Sept. 1

"What do you want to be when you grow up?" launches this Sunday's worship discussion at First Congregational Church, 256 E. Chicago St. in downtown Elgin.

Worshipers are invited to bring something that symbolizes their vocation, either from their professional life or something that they do that gives meaning to their lives.

"In an age when we are told that people change their careers over seven times in the course of their lives, being able to distinguish between what you do to earn a living and what you do to make a life becomes crucial," observed the church's interim pastor, Rev. Michael H. Montgomery, Ph.D. "The theological concept of vocation offers great help to us as we sort through our lives."

Worship services are at 8:15 and 10:15 a.m., with coffee hour at 11:30 a.m.

On Sept. 8, the church will host Rally Day at the morning services.

First Congregational Church, Elgin's oldest church, is at 256 E. Chicago St.
