Rotary Club bestows honors on Arlington Heights dignitaries

Longtime Arlington Heights Police Chief Gerald Mourning, retired, joined Arlington Heights Mayor Thomas Hayes as honorary Rotarians on Thursday, Aug. 15.

Chief Mourning had been at the helm of the Arlington Heights Police Department for 14 years in law enforcement. He was only the fifth police chief in the department's 125-year history.

Both gentlemen have been frequent speakers at the Rotary Club of Arlington Heights over their many years as active civilians.

Mayor Thomas Hayes has spoken annually at club meetings on the State of the Village as an elected official since 1991.

"Chief Mourning has invested heavily in our city during his tenure, and we continue to benefit from Mayor Hayes' guidance. We are honored to have these two gentlemen as honorary members," said Rotary Club of Arlington Heights President Ben Weaver.
