Matters of control

Two things we have no control over and cannot change are skin color and our parents. Yet, we marginalize according to them. What has one done to achieve a higher status or another done wrong to devalue himself? In our current political climate, it would serve us all better if we stopped marginalizing "others" and showed more gratitude for things we have not earned on our own.
