Beach Park man indicted in father's slaying

A Lake County grand jury has formally indicted a 21-year-old Beach Park man on three counts of first-degree murder alleging he killed his 70-year-old father with a set of garden shears.

George W. Bryce is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Aug. 22. He remains in custody at the Lake County jail on $3 million bail.

Lake County sheriff's deputies arrested Bryce on July 18, after responding to reports of a domestic battery in progress at a home on Peacock Road in Beach Park. Arriving deputies found Warren Bryce lying on the floor with "multiple sharp-force injuries," authorities said. He died the next day, authorities said.

Investigators later determined the father and son were involved in a disagreement when the younger Bryce attacked his father with a pair of garden shears, according to the sheriff's office.
