Sign up for free Ghost Storytelling Workshop Aug. 24 in Naperville
On Saturday, Aug. 24, individuals interested in sharpening their storytelling skills are invited to a free workshop with Summer Place Theatre's experienced storyteller Don Gingold. It will be 2 to 4 p.m. in Room 206 at the Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center, 305 W. Jackson Ave. in downtown Naperville.
The workshop is open to the first 15 registrants, ages 16 and up.
To register or get details, email Don Gingold at ghoststories@summerplacetheatre.org.
The two-hour class will cover proper story preparation, speaking, breathing, gesturing and microphone techniques.
No previous experience is required, but participants are encouraged to bring a prepared Halloween story or monologue two minutes in length or shorter that can be used to practice during the workshop.
Those who complete the workshop may be considered for a role as a storyteller in the Naperville Park District's annual "Ghost Stories in the Park … In the Dark" event, which will take place Oct. 4-6 at the Riverwalk Grand Pavilion.
