Ela Township Awards Scholarships To Lake Zurich High School Graduates

On Thursday, July 11, 2019, the Ela Township Board awarded academic scholarships to 10 graduating seniors from Lake Zurich High School at their monthly board meeting held at Ela Town Hall. Each of the selected students received a scholarship to the educational institution of their choice in the amount of $1,500.00.

Ela Township receives many qualified applicants each year for these academic scholarships. All scholarships are 100% funded without using any taxpayer dollars. Scholarship revenue is generated by the Township via permit fees collected at the Knigge Park student parking lot each year. The Township Board strongly believes in supporting the youth within the Township by providing this scholarship opportunity to assist them in furthering their education and achieving their professional goals.

To be eligible, student applicants were required to submit an application along with their transcripts, reference letters, and an essay detailing future academic and career aspirations. Some of the key criteria considered by the Township Board this year focused on the student's volunteer participation in community service projects along with how they have positively contributed to the Township.

The Township Board congratulates the 2019 Ela Township scholarship award recipients and wishes them the best as they continue their academic journey!
